How to use this site

Recommended browsers
Internet Explorer 3.02 or later, Netscape Navigator 3.0 or later. A few features will only be available to those people using IE3 (ActiveX controls).
Fonts
The first section "Getting started" does not require the use to have any special fonts. Although some sections require special fonts to be installed on your system, most material is also available in a PDF document (see table below).

If you are running Windows95 (and IE3), you can get the international extensions for Internet Explorer. This extension will install several High Quality fonts on your system, that contain multiple language scripts. These fonts can be used in other browsers or Programs.

See the Resources section for Fonts Resources.

"Plug-ins" and Extensions
"Plug-ins" and extensions are used on this site to give the user a richer experience. You do not require all these to make use of the site. We have attempted to make the material avaiable in several formats because everyone has a differenet system and preferences.

This site uses the following features and plug-ins (the icon are used on the site to identify the file types):
Icon Type Explanation
Sound File Sound file in WAV formats (Windows).
Sound File Sound file in AU formats.
PDF (Portable Document Format) These files can be viewed within most browsers as a plug-in or with an external viewer. Viewers (free) can be obtained from the Adobe web site.
Java applets Java applets are little programs that run with-in the web browser. (You require a brower that supports Java, to run these.) These programs take a bit of time to load, but once they have loaded they run just almost as fast as other programs on your computer.
ActiveX/VB script ActiveX is a technology developed by Microsoft which allows users of Internet Explorer 3 (or Netscape 3 with the appropriate plug-in) to take advantage of greater interactivity from within their web browser.
